What To Do When Pinterest Impressions Decrease

Worried about your Pinterest impressions decreasing? Keep reading to find out what you can do to help them boost.


?Don’t Panic – I can’t stress this enough…

Impressions on Pinterest don’t mean as much as you think. They fluctuate frequently as trends change every month on the platform. If your content isn’t as relevant a certain month, then impressions will decrease. However, keep in mind that they normally always increase back up at one point or another.

This actually happened to one of my clients in March/April. She had an Easter pin go viral those months, which in turn doubled her impressions. However, the following months, impressions slowly started decreasing, as that viral pin is not currently relevant. Good news is, traffic was still up on her site despite that.


?Remember your KPIs

My ultimate KPI (key performance indicator) is website traffic from Pinterest. If traffic is up despite impressions being down, that is all that matters. 


?Evaluate your Stats

I’m always doing a deep dive into Pinterest Analytics to determine how to improve pin CLICKS, as opposed to pin impressions. Why? Because again, traffic is always more relevant than impressions.

Traffic can turn to money through advertising, affiliate links and product sales. Remember that.


?A Few Ways to Boost Impressions

If you’re adamant on trying to boost your impressions in the moment, there are a few things you can try doing. However, this doesn’t always work. Pinterest is about trial and error. Here are a few tricks that may help:

1) Utilize all the pinterest tools and features (story pins, the scheduler, ads…).

2)Create recipe or DIY Story Pins only about once a week.

3) Upload video pins. These aren’t great for traffic but seem to boost impressions.
4) Post fresh pins frequently. The only way to do this is to upload at least 2 blog posts every week.
