Welcome back to Kordial Media’s blog! Today, I wanted to talk about how to stand out on Pinterest during the holidays when all the bloggers are creating the same type of content!
Use Idea Pins Intentionally
I know I know, not everyone has access to the feature. However, if you DO have access, create beautiful DIY’s for the holidays and recipes only. Since you can only select those 2 categories for Idea Pins at the moment, Pinterest will know how to place DIY and recipes in the algorithm better than any other type of content. For example, avoid creating Idea Pins on outfit ideas, mom tips or fitness exercises. Save those for your normal pins!
Don’t Forget to Download a Recipe Plugin (if you publish blog recipes).
I’ve noticed that recipe pins get more clicks if the ingredients are in the description section on the Pin, thanks to a Recipe plugin like Tasty Recipes.
I used to think plugins like this wouldn’t help boost clicks, but I was really wrong! Users love to see the ingredients they would be working with before clicking to read about the recipe method. If they like the ingredients on the pin, they’ll click to visit the blog post! It’s as simple as that.
Research Your Keywords in the Trends Tool.
I’ve seen a lot of bloggers creating “Gift Guide for Her” type blog posts. While those are great, you might want to consider going niche! When I was doing my gift-giving keyword research for example, I noticed that certain types of niche searches were trending more.
For example, searches like Gift ideas for coworkers and Gifts for nurses were gaining a lot of traction.
My point is that while other bloggers create general gift guides, you could be writing about Gifts for nurses, since that’s what people are actually looking for!
Random Thing I’ve Seen Work On Pinterest Lately
As I was pinning for a client this week, she asked me to also include a motivational quote graphic she created. Well, let me tell you, it gained A LOT of impressions and clicks. If you’re struggling to improve your impressions at the moment, try creating a few positive quote graphics and see what happens!
People are seeking motivation this year more than ever. This could be a way to pivot your strategy for the rest of the year, especially since everyone is focusing on holiday content instead of quotes!
That’s it for today!
