First of all, why even have a profile cover?

Well, because of one of the latest features that Pinterest has released called Idea Pins, people are landing on your profile more than ever. As soon as they land on your profile, they have about three seconds before they decide whether or not they are jiving with you and they like your content. So you have those three seconds to make that first impression with your profile cover, because your banner is pretty much the first thing that they see.

The better your profile cover is set up to increase those followers, the better it is for you and your traffic long-term. Not to mention that your profile cover is yet another opportunity to add some amazing long-tail keywords related to your business. Keep in mind that as soon as you do change the cover section into a profile cover, you cannot go back to what is currently there, which is to see the latest pins on your profile.

Latest pins

I don’t think this is a big deal, I think going forward, a profile cover is much more valuable to you and to your audience than to keep your latest pins. I highly suggest that you do go ahead and create beautiful profile cover.

Start By Logging into Canva

If you don’t know Canva, they are a free graphic design tool that’s available to anybody worldwide. All you do is you Google canva.com and you sign up for free. Once you’ve signed up, you can then start creating the right profile cover for you with custom dimensions. Yes, you need to make sure that your profile cover fits the right custom dimensions so it doesn’t get truncated. Once you’ve logged into Canva, & you’ve added your custom dimensions, the next step is to start adding those crucial elements that will actually increase your conversions.

Add your Branding to your Profile Cover

Whether it be your logo or perhaps your website link, having that piece of branding is super important to your profile cover, because they will help identify the type of content that people can see, and who you are as a brand when they leave your profile.

Add Text Overlay

The next crucial element to an amazing Pinterest cover is having a text overlay that describes your business and how you help others. A big mistake that I see here is that a lot of people will say that they will blog about a certain type of content or that they are a certain type of person. At the end of the day, to be completely honest, nobody cares about you. They just care about how you can help them. So if your text overlay can start off by saying something like, “We help,” it’ll be much more valuable to somebody who lands on your profile cover.

As well, within that sentence and that text overlay, you should absolutely add a long-tail keyword that reflects your business for SEO purposes. Keep in mind that your text overlay should not be longer than one sentence. It shouldn’t be super long, but be easy and quick to read instead. As well, it not take up the majority of your banner.

Add Beautiful Images

The next crucial element to your Pinterest profile cover is to have a beautiful image, or two or three of yourself or your product or of your business. This is so people can understand and visualize exactly what it is you do and how you help. Of course, the better the quality of the images, the better it is for you and your business long term. If you can show a beautiful aesthetic overall, that is super advantageous to you, especially when it comes to Pinterest, because people look for those beautifully aesthetically pleasing images.

Add a Call to Action to your Profile Cover

Now comes the time to add a call to action button. That’s right, a call to action button is super, super important on a Pinterest profile cover as well, because it helps ask for that engagement. If you can say something like “check out my profile”, “follow along”, “visit my website”.

Next Really Comes the Aesthetics of it All
