Welcome back to Pinterest Marketing 101 by Kordial Media! Today, let’s discuss boards!
? How many boards should you have?
You should have 20 boards to begin with. If you’re a lifestyle blogger for example, you want to create between 1 – 3 boards for each category you cover (beauty, fashion, travel…) until you’ve filled your 20. If you have an e-commerce store, then create between 1 – 3 boards per product category. If you’re a niche blogger, create boards related to the different areas your cover within your niche. For example, if you’re strictly a food blog, you can have one board on desserts, one on dinner ideas, one on 30 minute meals… Keep in mind that your very first board should contain all your products or blog posts. This is your summary board. You can call it “Best of The Blog”, for example.
? How should you order your boards?
As mentioned above, the first board should be like a summary of your website. Beyond that, group your board categories together. Meaning, if you’re a lifestyle blogger for example, you want to cluster the beauty boards together, the travel boards together and so on.
? What about board settings?
Your board name should be a long tail key word (3 to 4 words). Ex: “Travel Destination Ideas”
When it comes to the board description, you should write a 500 character, key word rich description. It should be in paragraph form with long tail key words intertwined. Do not key word stuff like this: “travel ideas, travel, travel destinations”. This algorithm doesn’t like it.
? Which boards to keep and which to get rid of?
Anything unrelated to your blog or website or niche should be deleted or made into a secret board. Also, keep in mind that empty boards are unappealing and should also be kept secret.
? Conclusion
So there you have it! This sums up everything you need to know about Pinterest boards.
